American Traction Systems was formed in 2008 as an affiliate of Saminco, Inc., operating in Lee County since 1992. ATS designs and manufactures high power AC and DC motor controls and traction drives used mainly in the Rail and Transportation industries.

ATS is a privately owned green technology corporation manufacturing energy efficient products for hybrid, battery and fuel cell powered cars, trucks, locomotives and marine vessels. The ATS propulsion systems improve performance and reliability, reduce fuel consumption and slashes harmful emissions.
Standard product manufacturing and custom designed solutions for propulsion requirements are conducted in the new 10,000 square foot manufacturing, testing, research and development and warehouse location in Fort Myers.
